Polygamy or Homosexuality - Which Should be Legal?

If you had to choose between becoming a homosexual and becoming a polygamist, which would you choose?

If you are a Christian then I certainly hope the answer was polygamy. After all, the Bible does not condemn polygamy. So why has the homosexual lobby become so powerful? It's because those who practice polygamy are traditionally not Democrats. The Evangelical Christians that I know who are practicing polygamists primarily vote Republican. They are pro-life, pro-gun, and pro-family. The Democrats have proposed the legalization of every type of vice and immorality imaginable so why would we ever expect them to propose the legalization of morality. That's right, morality. Polygamists don't cheat on their wives, they bring in more wives. Polygamists don't spread venereal disease, how could they, they only have sex with their own wives. Polygamists don't get drunk in public, where would they find the time? Furthermore, Evangelical Christian polygamists have no need for public schools or daycare, with the extra wives they boast the best daycare and smartest home schooled children in the nation.

So what will it take to legalize polygamy? Well, for all intents and purposes polygamy is already legal in 43 states but putting that aside, what would it take? It would require the public to recognize that no marriages should be licensed. The fact that marriages are licensed makes it virtually inevitable that every state in the nation will someday have homosexual marriage. If you are a conservative then why in the world would you want the state to issue a license stating that anyone's marriage is valid? If the state goes any more liberal it will start issuing marriage licenses to plants and animals.

So are there any valid reasons to retain marriage laws? Nobody I have spoken with can find any. The country does need laws for the protection of children but marriage laws do nothing to protect children. Marriage laws are created to protect a ex-wives regardless of the best interests of the children. We see this in case after case where women falsely accuse their husbands of sexual abuse or physical abuse in order to gain an upper hand in the financial outcome of the divorce. The Bible doesn't even allow a woman to divorce her husband so why have men so debased themselves that they allow women to rule over them? Do women have rights? Of course, and a whole lot more than monogamists give them. They have a right to sex but a husband does not have a right to sex. I guess it takes a polygamist to point out that a man doesn't have a right to force sex on his wife if she's not in the mood. The Bible has clear marital laws on this.

Well, sometimes there is just not an easy answer. Are there prophetic events in store? It is interesting that polygamy is prophesied in the Bible right before the return of Jesus:

Isaiah 4:1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.
Isaiah 4:2 In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

How simple do I have to get. Polygamy prophesied Verse 1 - Jesus returns Verse 2.

Do you or I know why this will happen? Of course not, but I can give you a clue. In the areas of the world where Christianity is growing, Asia, Africa, & China, there are far more women converts than men. I have had so many men and women tell me that if there is a war and the men are wiped out then polygamy is valid, what about a spiritual war where there are not enough husbands for the women? In most of Asia, Born Again women Christians outnumber men by a ratio of nearly three to one. Polygamy is about to break out and it's not Muslim polygamy, it's Christian polygamy.

Amoral America

There is an evolving amorality among America's so called conservative talk show hosts with its roots in the oldest traditions of American culture - fornication. Note how many so called conservatives now use the term "partner" to refer to the person one shares their bed with instead of the term wife or husband. The fact is, the woman that a man shares his bed with is either a wife, or a whore, or both, and the man that a woman shares her bed with is either a husband, or a fornicator, or both.

The problem with discussing anything today is that political correctness is now confused with politeness and this politeness has even taken over in the churches. You will not find one church in America that preaches from the Bible concerning marriage. I'll give a simple example:

Exodus 22:16,17 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife. If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

Before the 1960s it was common for a woman to expect the man who impregnated her to marry her and he usually did. In fact, prior to the 1960s the one thing that half of the brides had in common on their wedding day was that they were pregnant. A shotgun wedding was expected if a man took a woman's virginity. Today, young people are asked to delay marriage to such an age that the odds that they can possibly maintain self control are virtually zero. "True Love Waits" but how long? On the one hand we want our daughters and sons to remain virgins till marriage and on the other hand we want them to go to college. The two are mutually exclusive, or are they?

Here are some steps we can take to make that may help. First, we must face the reality that the age at which we expect our children to marry is far too old. There was a time when parents understood that marriage by age 18 for women and 21 for men was about as much as they could expect. Those ages weren't so much set as minimums but as guide posts.

Now how do we make sure that our sons and daughters receive a higher education and still complete the educational level that they are capable of? First, we accelerate their education so that they can complete their high school degree by the age of 14. There are many free online highschools today. Second, we have them take their college online so that by the time they're 18 years old they will have already received their undergraduate degree. And finally, we consider the possibility of giving them that rental home that we used to pay for their college education as both a wedding and graduation gift.

Polygamy of Evangelical Christians

Evangelical Christian men by the thousands are investigating the validity of Christian Polygamy every day. Why has there been no news coverage of this? Could it be that the press is only concerned with scandals and these wannabe polygamists are actually interested in pursuing their interests within the context of what the Bible calls marriage? Could it be that these Methodists, Baptists, and Pentecostals break the template of the anti-polygamist hate groups?

It is apparent from the visits to Christian Polygamy websites such as Christian Marriage and Christian Polygamy that the search by Evangelical Christians for sites promoting polygamy is not futile. In fact, the number of Evangelical Christian Polygamy websites has grown from only five in 1995 to hundreds today. Many of these sites, especially that cover a broader range of topics on Christian Marriage have readers from moderately accepting to zealously enthusiastic for taking more wives into their household.

What does your church teach on divorce and remarriage? Do they teach it from the Bible? If they don't teach from the Bible then some of the men in your congregation are likely looking up the topic of Christian Marriage on the Internet and finding something they didn't expect; Christian Polygamy as practiced by Evangelical Christians.

Consider this, Charles Wesley, the famous 18th century hymn writer, had a brother-in-law who was a polygamist by the name of Westley Hall. After he had married Martha Wesley, he took other wives. Martha even nursed one of the babies of the other wives. Westley Hall was not excommunicated, in fact, he continued preaching and had financial support from the Evangelical Christian community.

Another strangely forgotten fact of history is that the man most responsible for hymn singing in our churches today, the Reverend Martin Madan, who wrote the first widely used hymnal, also wrote a book promoting polygamy. He was the godfather to Charles Wesley's son Samuel who took a second wife while his first wife was still living in the same household with him. His son, Samuel Sebastian Wesley became the most famous church organist of the 19th century and was even offered knighthood.

I encourage anyone who is truly interested in whether Christian Polygamy is indeed Christian, investigate and find out for yourselves what the Bible says about Christian Marriage.
